This article is a little old, but goes hand-in-hand with our message in Podcast 16. That is, the prevalence and treatment of ADHD varies depending on the cultural views of behavioral and developmental expectations. According to the article, 9% of US children have ADHD while less than .5% – that’s right 0.5% – of kids in France are diagnosed with the condition. Biologically the children are not that different. The variability is explained by our expectations and our views of behavioral etiology!
