The Ledger 11.22.15 – The Case for Recess

When we were in school, most of us had the opportunity to have recess. Just a 20-30 minute break in the middle of the day to interrupt the academics and help us reset our brains for the rest of the school day. Unfortunately, along with many other important “specials” (such as music, art, and PE), recess has been sacrificed for more “Academic Engaged Time.” In this column we talk about the importance of recess and the primary reason for its near extinction.
