With about 50% of first marriages and 60% of second marriages ending in divorce, it is important that we look at some of the reasons why couples split and why they remain together. As you would likely imagine, one of the main reasons unhappy couples remain together is “for the kids.” They are concerned that a divorce will have detrimental effects on their children, often resulting in the parents staying together long after the relationship has died.
